2) Significance of Title

The title of the book "A Million Little Pieces" is very representative of James Frey's Life. As the reader quickly learns, James Frey is heavily addicted to drugs. The title represents the fact that James' life has broken into a million little pieces as a result of his addiction. The book starts with a quote, speaking of something that has broken into a million little pieces, and by definition, cannot be repaired. The book is a story of a man who tries to repair a life that to most people appears to be beyond repair. The title is also symbolic of James' state of mind at times. He gets fits of rage where it is as if his mind has shattered into a million little pieces, and he completely loses control. The title of the novel is, overall, symbolic of the entire situation that James has gotten himself into.
